A java applet to display how Mars looks like from Earth at any given date/time.
NEW: Added the moons Phobos and Deimos!
The moon is red if it is inside the Martian orbit around the sun; it is grey if
it is outside the Martian orbit. In the particular case if the moon is drawn
on the globe, you can see if the moon is actually before or behind the planet.
Day-Night Map of Mars displayed below the globe!
Time is in UTC
Alter the date to see the rotation and the change in the planets main axis.
The lander sites will be displayed aswell; increase the brightness via the checkbox.
BEA2 - Mars Express' Beagle 2 Lander
MPF - Pathfinder
VIK1,VIK2 - Viking1&2
MER1,MER2 - Mars Exploration Rovers
Since the globe displays the view from Earth, you might not see the full disc due
changes in the phase angle depending on the position of Mars and Earth. Therefore seeing
a lander location in sunlight on the day-night map does not necessarily mean being
visible from Earth.
Version 2.1: Added 'flip horizonal' and 'flip vertical'; new map - see copyright notice at the bottom
